Triton is coached by T. J. Morrison, a 1995 graduate of the school. He is also a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He just completed his 18th year as the Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach. This was his 22nd year as a head coach with a previous stint at Midway High School from 2003-2007. This past year was his 26th year as a teacher in North Carolina. He started his career at Smithfield-Selma High School from 1999-2003, where he coached jv basketball and assisted with the varsity program.
Coach Morrison also serves on the advisory board and volunteers with the Dunn Police Athletic and Activities League (PAL). Several of the Hawk players are members at PAL, help with tutoring, and are involved in Youth Leadership. They play travel basketball with the Wildcats, led by Director Rodney Rowland retired Captain of the Dunn Police Department and Chris Eason, a former Hawk player and PAL member.
Coach Morrison is also a member of the Erwin Lions Club and is the advisor for the Triton LEO Club.
Morrison also does the clock for home football games and scoreboard and P.A. for baseball.
While at UNCG, his coaching career started with coaching recreation teams at the Guilford College YMCA, then coaching with Guilford Middle School, and the Greensboro Gaters.
Coach Morrison is originally from Dunn, NC and now resides in Coats, NC with his family. His wife of 26 years is Jamie Morrison, a guidance counselor at Coats Elementary School. His daughter Sydney, 22, recently graduated from North Carolina State University and is headed to Radford to obtain a Master's Degree. His son Carter, 17, is a rising Senior at Triton.
