The LET 3 & 4 Cadets conduct a staff meeting and plan for upcoming events (Room 268).
The LET 1 & 2 Cadets will research an International News story, write a summary, and brief the class (Room 269). This is designed to strengthen research skill, critical thinking, writing, and public speaking.
TASK: World news or international news or even foreign coverage is the news media jargon for news from abroad, about a country or a global subject.
The Importance of International News. International news offers a unique perspective on the most pressing issues of the day. Foreign news provides a valuable opportunity to inform your beliefs, rather than remain narrowly immersed in American (and only American) perspectives on political, economic, social, and cultural issues.
International news sources cover the same range of topics as U.S. news sources, often in English. Coverage includes World news; Domestic news (for that country); Editorial/opinion columns; Feature stories; Sports; and Entertainment sections.
It’s important to read international news to monitor the defining issues of the day from sources outside your immediate bubble (the USA). Yet perhaps most critically, international news offers a respite. As more Americans feel the country slipping deeper into a polarized media landscape, news from other countries pulls back the lens, reminding us of the depth, breadth, and nuance behind many of today’s top stories.
Task: You are to create a written summary of an international news event(answering the Who, What, Where, When, Why, How) no older than two days from the due date. Complete the summary in Word, Google Doc, Kame, PPT, or PDF format and include the link. The link will be used to verify the date of the article.
News about Canada, the US, and Mexico is off-limits. The link below can help you get started.
